The Green Building Institute, in partnership with Bethesda Bungalows, is proud to invite you on a Green Home Walking Tour in one of the greenest neighborhoods in the Mid-Atlantic. The highlight of the tour will be to visit several of the homes in this beautiful Chevy Chase neighborhood.

Welcome to Bungalow Row, an enclave of 8 unique custom homes in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  This extraordinary development was started in 2005 with building energy efficient, “green” buildings.  However, the development of the community is an illustration of the evolution of the green movement.  As each building was constructed, more green features were incorporated and now 5133 Fairglen Lane is expected to receive LEED Platinum and NGBS Emerald certifications, the highest in the industry.

The Tour will begin with a brief presentation by Christian Gladu of The Bungalow Company of Bend, Oregon.  A noted author and longtime leader in the design of socially responsible homes, Mr. Gladu has recently been certified as a Passive House Consultant and will discuss the evolution of green homes on Fairglen Lane.

The tour is scheduled to coincide with the blooming of the Kenwood cherry trees, a best kept secret for cherry blossom viewing that will delight the whole family.
