PASSIVE HOUSE TRAINING

The Program is an overview of:

  • Principles of Passive House Design - Heat Transfer, Airtightness, Super-insulation, Ventilation and Moisture Control

  • Instruction in the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), our powerful and precise energy modeling software

  • Mechanical Systems
  • Construction Examples
  • Materials Selection
  • Quality Assurance

The program is designed as a series of three, three-day sessions. These sessions are meant for those architects and building system designers who want to learn how to successfully implement Passive House design principles in residential, commercial, and retrofit scenarios.  Click on the Phase to see a sample agenda:  Phase I and Phase II.  NOTE:  These are samples – dates and instructor names will change.

Dates:

Training takes place in three Phases.  The trainings are progressive, so Phases must be completed consecutively.  Each day’s session begins at 9am and concludes at 4pm and includes lunch.

Phase I          September 24-26, 2009

Phase II         November 12-14, 2009

Phase III        January 7-9, 2010

Completion of all three 3-day programs and passage of a Final Exam can qualify participants as a Certified Passive House Consultant.

Registration Fee:  $650 per Phase.  Note:   Accepted candidates will also need the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), which will be available at the discounted Consultants' rate of $125.

Registration Process:

GBI Members have a special reserved registration period through July 20.  After that, registration is open to the general public.  Classes are limited to 25 and sell out quickly, so start the registration process early!

Registrants must be pre-qualified by completing and submitting the Passive House Application Document.  Please note:  Application submission and registration must be completed via the Passive House Institute – it cannot be completed on the Green Building Institute website.  Please complete the application document and e:mail to admin@passivehouse.us.  After your application is reviewed and accepted, you will receive a link from the Passive House Institute to complete the registration process.  

Cancellation Policy:   Full refund of registration until ten days before the commencement of each Phase. After that time, a 75% refund will be offered.
