GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Geothermal heating has been used for centuries to heat buildings by using sources of hot water and steam that lie underground.  A renewable energy source, geothermal heating systems are increasingly a choice for homes and businesses when the environmental impact of traditional energy sources and rising energy costs are concerns.  This class will provide a basic overview of geothermal energy systems and will include a brief discussion of financing options and tax incentives for residential homes.

ENVIRONMENTAL LANDSCAPING

Sunday March 21st, 1-3pm

Despite its beauty, not all landscaping lives in complete harmony with its environment.  This class will explore the elements of landscape design that create both site enhancement and sustainability. Learn how to plan a design that works effectively with natural site layout and, at the same time, assists with the heating and cooling needs of the structure. Find out how to choose native plants that will be resistant to drought and disease. Get tips from experts in sustainable landscape on how to get started on your projects.

INTRODUCTION TO HOME ENERGY AUDITS

Sunday April 18, 1-3pm

Now is the time to save energy and save money too!  You may want an audit or you may be able to increase energy efficiency in your home without one. Learn about the features and benefits of different types of energy audits and how to prepare for one.  Discuss common misconceptions and what you should look for in an energy auditor. This information could save you dollars!
