Indoor Air Quality and Known Environmental Issues…What You Should Know for Sustainability!
What topics will be covered? A brief review of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) concerns pertaining to indoor health including Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Particulates (such as dust mites, dander, pollen), VOCs, effects of temperature and humidity, mold, and Radon. Coupling IAQ information with a brief review of the outdoor environment; specifically vapor intrusion. Methods to mitigate IAQ and outdoor concerns in a residential environment while maintaining energy efficiency. Date: Rescheduled for Saturday, October 18th, 2008 Time: 8:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Check-In 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Indoor Air Quality Instructor’s Bio Gene Swier is an internationally certified Construction Safety Engineer with over 35 years experience and nearly 4,000 property assessments including industrial hygiene aspects. Most recently, he has been performing assessments at The Pentagon. Mr. Swier also currently performs residential and small commercial inspection services; specializing in occupant Safety, Health, Energy, and the Environment…a holistic approach to assuring quality living. Mr. Swier has been involved with energy efficiency initiatives since the mid-1970s; and included a mayoral appointment as a Town Energy Coordinator, the first local initiative by the Federal government to manage the “energy crisis.” Mr. Swier has a Master of Science degree in Safety and Health and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management from Columbia Southern University.
