- What are the differences between residential solar power and solar
hot water systems?
- How can solar energy reduce greenhouse gas emissions?
- How can solar photovoltaic home systems help against rising utility
costs?
- How does a grid-tied solar electric system work?
- What components are needed?
- What are the costs?
- What kind of house or roof do I need for a solar electric system?
About the Instructor
Lee Bristol is the Director, General Manager and Corporate Vice
President of Standard Solar. Lee Bristol founded LBA Renewable Energy
Systems, Inc., in 2002, to design, install, and maintain renewable energy
systems, including solar photovoltaics and solar hot water. Lee earned
an Aeronautics and Astronautics degree from MIT in 1969. He worked as
a systems analyst and fluid mechanics engineer on the early 1970's before
opening the first microcomputer store in Washington, DC in 1977. In 1982,
he founded Leland Bristol and Associates, Inc., an IT company specializing
in health insurance computer systems and software. In 2002 he returned
to his engineering roots and took a year off from IT consulting to learn
about renewable energy systems; this included completing solar PV training
courses at Solar Energy International in Colorado. His renewable energy
systems can be monitored by a proprietary data capture system that displays
results on the Internet. Lee recently joined Standard Solar Inc. as General
Manager, in charge of all regional operations in the metropolitan Washington
DC area where he and his crews are currently installing residential solar
electric and solar hot water systems.
